From the CEO’s Desk: Vision and Leadership

Welcome to Hippo FC’s leadership hub.

• As CEO, I am proud to lead a team of remarkable young women who use football as a platform for climate action, conservation of the endangered pygmy hippo, and STEM education for girls. Our journey is about more than wins on the field—it’s about inspiring change, uniting communities, and proving that sport can drive real transformation for Liberia and beyond.

• At Hippo FC, we believe that leadership means more than making decisions—it means serving as role models, listening to our players and community, and always striving for impact. Every match, every clean-up, every STEM clinic is a step toward a better future for our environment, our girls, and our nation.

• We have accomplished much with limited resources and no corporate funding, but our vision is bold: to reach even more communities, protect Liberia’s unique biodiversity, and open doors for girls in science and sport. With the support of our partners, friends, and supporters like you, we can make this vision a reality.

• Hippo FC came into existence in 2016. We proudly championed the extension of the LFA Women’s Soccer League in Margibi County. It was a historic achievement to win the league and become the first champions of the newly established competition, thanks to the leadership of our General Manager, Famatta Eunice Thomas, and her dedicated team.

• Climate change and the protection of Liberia’s rare pygmy hippos is everyone’s responsibility. Investing in STEM education for Liberian girls—using soccer to motivate and inspire them—is an investment in Liberia’s future.
