Welcome to Hippo FC Community

We are Hippo FC, a football club from Margibi County, Liberia. We play to win matches and we play to save forests. Our name comes from the pygmy hippopotamus. It is one of the world’s most endangered animals and it lives here in Liberia. Fewer than 2,500 remain in the wild. 

We put the pygmy hippo on our crest because if young people are proud of it, they will protect it. Football with Purpose.  Hippo FC competes in the LFA system. We train boys and girls who love the game. But our pitch is bigger than 90 minutes. From 2026 to 2028, every goal we score plants 100 trees through our Four Birth Trees program. Every assist starts a conversation about the forest. Conservation in Action Our players are not just athletes. 

Since 2016 they have run Hippo Watch in 6 villages across Margibi and Sinoe Counties. They teach communities how forests protect water, crops, and wildlife. In 2024 our team reported 3 cases of illegal logging to the Forestry Development Authority. In 2025 we planted 400 trees with local schools. Our target is 10,000 by 2028. 

Built by the Community Hippo FC runs on volunteer power. We have no outside sponsors and no gate fees. Players, coaches, and fans fund every ball, every boot, and every tree.
